Portugal recorded in the last 24 hours a further 8,463 cases and 35 deaths associated with covid-19 , according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) released this Monday .
The number of new infections reported in the last 24 hours is the lowest since December 27, 2021, also a Monday, when 6,334 positive cases were recorded.
According to the latest data from the DGS, the total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic in the country rises to 3,093,723 million and the number of deaths is now 20,565.
As for admissions , and after several consecutive days of decline, they rose in the last 24 hours. At the moment, there are 2,364 people hospitalized (66 more than yesterday), of which 148 are in Intensive Care units (7 less).
Another important and positive data is the fact that 29,289 more people have recovered from covid-19 between yesterday and today, bringing the total number (2,324,291) to more than 2.5 million.
The number of active cases also decreased, with 548,867 now, 20,861 fewer than on Sunday, and there are 13,194 fewer contacts under surveillance (589,289).
