“It is necessary to renew the State of Emergency”, said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa this Thursday.
The President of the Republic said that Portugal is “facing a challenge that does not end in the next 15 days”, reinforcing the idea that the State of Emergency should be renewed more often.
Reactively to schools, Marcelo stated that “it seems evident that there is not necessarily a link between classroom teaching and worsening contagion”.
The head of state also told journalists that, in addition to the measures common to the entire national territory, it is important to move towards specific measures that address greater or lesser severity in the municipalities.
“The Portuguese have been exemplary in doing what they are asked to do,” said Marcelo. “Despite being critical, the Portuguese have been exemplary”, he concluded.
