A collision between a minibus and a garbage truck in Veiros, in the municipality of Estarreja, caused a deadly victim Friday, local fire department sources told Lusa.
According to the same source, the alert for the accident was given at 14:11.
A truck hit the truck that stopped to collect the garbage and killed one of the workers behind. The driver of the truck must have chained himself to the sun, because he did not crash, ” said Ernesto Rebelo, commander of the Estarreja Fire Brigade.
The death was declared in the place by the doctors of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
Ernesto Rebelo also said that the driver of the truck, which went into shock, and the other element of the garbage truck were transported to the Hospital of Aveiro for observation only.
At the scene, firemen from Estarreja and Murtosa, the Medical Emergency and Reanimation Vehicle (VMER) of the Aveiro Hospital, and the GNR were also operating.
